It usually starts at night.

He gets up at three in the morning and walks. Not to the door, not to the water bowl — just walks. Hall, kitchen, back again. Sometimes he stands in the corner facing the wall and you have to go and turn him around.

Vets group those signs under canine cognitive dysfunction, or CCD. It is a real, diagnosable condition and it is your veterinarian's to assess, not a website's and not a supplement's. If several of those describe your dog, book the appointment. Some of them overlap with other medical problems that need real treatment.

What's useful to understand is the fuel part, because it explains the pattern owners find so strange.
